Defending the Caveman is a comedy by American actor Rob Becker about the misunderstandings between men and women. Defending the Caveman has been seen in theaters around the world by more than eight million people in more than thirty countries. It has been performed in over fifteen different languages. [1] Theater Mogul Productions are the rights holders of the play, and have presented it in 15 European countries since 2000. [2]

Plot

A blend of stand-up comedy, lecture, and therapy session, it attempts to resolve the war between the sexes. The play manages to stand up for the women's side, while still being sympathetic to the male side of issues as well. Becker describes the play as a venue for showing that "men have emotions, but they express them differently."

Productions

Becker took over three years to write the comedy, originally performed the play. ^[3] Later, actors Chris Sullivan and Kevin Burke, trained initially by Rob Becker, took over the role. Today, there are dozens of actors performing the role in countries around the world; including one permanent show, onstage nightly at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. ^[4] In 1996, it became the longest running solo (one man) play in the history of Broadway.
