The Anaheim Arsenal
were a basketball team which joined the NBA Development League as an expansion team for the 2006–07 season. They played their home games at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, California.
Team owners included Tom & Louise Jones, Jeff Jones, as well as Gino Kwok, who is former president of the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, California, and Roy Englebrecht, who operates a school for aspiring broadcasters, fight promotors known as Fight Promoter University and is a boxing promoter.
The team was led by President, Cliff Dochterman, and Head Coach Sam Vincent.
The Arsenal were the first professional basketball team at the Anaheim Convention Center since a 1992 Clippers NBA playoff game was played there because of the L.A. Sports Arena being unavailable as a result of the Los Angeles riots of 1992.
On March 31, 2009, the D-League announced that the Arsenal would be relocating to Springfield, Massachusetts for the 2009-10 season, where they are now known as the Springfield Armor. [1] [2]
In 3 years in Anaheim, they had never made the playoffs.
