Bellevue Blackhawks Wiki Information
The Bellevue Blackhawks
are a defunct team in the American Basketball Association (ABA) owned by Michael Tuckman and based in Bellevue, WA. In their maiden season (2004-05), the Blackhawks finished in 5th place in the Red Division. In the 2005 playoffs, their semi-final game against the Utah Snowbears was canceled after Utah disbanded. On March 26, 2005 they lost to the Arkansas RimRockers 118-103 in the ABA Championship game in front of 15,000 fans at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas. This was the largest crowd ever to attend an ABA game. Tuckman was named the 2005 ABA Executive of the Year.
The team returned to the ABA for the 2005-06 season, but came under fire as the team regularly canceled home games and did not travel to road games, and some fans came under attack from Tuckman. The Blackhawks finished 1-10 and did not make the playoffs. The team has not played since.
Tuckman expanded his ABA holdings by acquiring the Tacoma Navigators, Olympia Titans and Vancouver Dragons. Of these, none are currently competing.
