Chievo
(2,800 inhabitants) is a frazione of Verona located to the west of the city, around 4km from the historic city centre, on the shores of the river Adige. It is best known for its football team, A.C. ChievoVerona.
It is bordered to the north by the river Adige, to the west by what remains of the forest of Mantico and by the airport of Boscomantico, and to the southeast by the Borgo Nuovo quarter.
On Chievo's central square is the interesting parish church and the Villa Pullè of 1770, with an adjoining park.
Near the centre of Chievo is Bionde, noted for the grand Austrian stronghold of 1850, and Sorte, whose name is drawn from the division or sorteggio
of the lumber from the Mantico forest between the heads of the local families.
