Other Vancouver Teams
Although Vancouver isn't as widely known as other big ticket cities for professional teams, there are actually quite a few teams for the sports fanatic. Fans of football might want to attend a "BC Lions" game, but remember that a Canadian football game has a field that's 110 yards, not 100. The BC Lions have won 5 Grey Cups, most recently in 2006.
Baseball fans can catch minor league action with the Vancouver Canadians, one of the minor league franchises for the Oakland Athletics and the only Canadian team that's affiliated with the farm league of major league baseball.
Fans of soccer will have plenty to cheer about as Vancouver has a soccer team named the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Whitecaps FC was founded in 1974 and was a member of the USSF Division 2 Professional League.
However, Vancouver was granted a professional team by Major League Soccer in 2010, and although the name remains unchanged for the inaugural season in 2011, the logo will be entirely different, and the Major League Soccer team will replace the USSF Division 2 team.

Anyone who wants to see their fast-paced hockey games done with west coast attitude will want to attend a Vancouver Canucks game! The history of the team expands over four decades and is shown in every hit, check, and goal scored. Whether you've just started out being a hockey fan or have been a fan for years, there's always something to learn when you go to a Canucks game. Rogers Arena is a technological marvel. Their screens are capable of displaying over 4 trillion colors and the arena has four LED screens that each measure a whopping 13 1/2 x 24 feet. The surround sound is awesome as well. Nine different speakers using over 70,000 watts of power make sure that you always feel right in the middle of the action and no hit, slapshot or goal is ever missed!
Vancouver Canucks History
The Vancouver Canucks were founded in 1945 as a hockey team in the Pacific Coast Hockey League and were part of the World Hockey League from 1952 until Vancouver was granted a team in 1970 by the NHL. Even though the team has never won a Stanley Cup, the team has had two very successful playoff runs, one in 1982 and one in 1994. Between 2001 and 2005, Vancouver was known for what would be known as the "West Coast Express", consisting of Naslund, Bertuzzi and Morrison. Games starting in 2010 were broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet ONE instead of Pay-Per-View. In 2008, the Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment Company changed its name to Canucks Sports and Entertainment to acknowledge the name of the team.
