Other Baltimore Teams
As far as professional sports goes, the Ravens only have one other professional team in their town. This team is known as the Baltimore Orioles who play in Camden Yards field directly across the street from M&T Stadium. The Orioles have been in the city longer and have a long lineage of tradition in the major leagues. With great players like Cal Ripken Jr., the Orioles have won world championships and play in the perennially tough AL East division.
Though the Ravens and Orioles are the only two major sports teams in the city, they are most certainly not the only shows in town. Baltimore, Maryland is also home to indoor and outdoor soccer leagues played by the Blast and the Crystal Palace. They also have a women's football team named the Nighthawks and a roller derby team named the Charm City Roller Girls. Baltimore also has an Arena football team named the Mariners that is becoming vastly popular in the city.

The Baltimore Ravens play in M&T Stadium which is one of the premier stadiums in the National Football League. They are also a team that has their own marching band that plays tunes to fire up the crowd and to celebrate touchdowns and big plays. The Ravens have a family fun football environment that takes on a shape all its own.
Baltimore Ravens History
The Ravens became an NFL franchise when a deal was cut by Art Modell, then owner of the Cleveland Browns, who moved his team to Baltimore. However, though many players and coaches from this team made the move, no records and the Browns name would not follow the Ravens to their new home. This means that the Browns records are kept separate from the Ravens, making them a true expansion team.
In 1996, the Ravens made two great picks in the first round that would pay off large dividends in the future. The two players picked were guard Jonathan Ogden and middle linebacker Ray Lewis. Each has had a hall of fame type career, and has been a team captain. The highlight of their careers was when they lead the Ravens to their first Super Bowl title against the New York Giants in 2000.
After the Super Bowl season, the Ravens have been victims of playing in the tough AFC North division and have not made it back to the Super Bowl. However, they are renowned for always fielding one of the better defenses in the National Football League. They drafted a new young quarterback in 2007, Joe Flacco, and also acquired a great young halfback named Ray Rice from Rutgers University.
