They won two Grammy Awards due to the success of this album which launched them to mega-stardom on the world stage.
Following the success of this mega album, U2 began to experiment with a vast variety of music stylings and became very active in foundations to help their fellow man. Amnesty International and other groups have largely benefited from the band doing concerts in their honor. Bono, besides putting out some of the best music of our generation, is an outspoken proponent of feeding the world's population as well. U2 reemerged after the millennium and is still performing at concerts around the world today.
