The Killers History

The band The Killers came together officially in 2002. However, it was Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning who set the groundwork for the band in 2001. They met through adds in the paper and started to make music during jam sessions they would hold together. These jam sessions actually yielded what would be their later first hit single, "Mr. Brightside." They added a bassist and drummer but both would leave prompting them to find new band mates in Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. With this new roster, the band came together and settled upon the name The Killers.

Las Vegas is where they were based out of originally and they started out by playing small venues around town in 2003. They were discovered by a talent scout who introduced them Ben Durling who worked with the United Kingdom based rock label, Lizard King Records. Durling liked their sound so much they were signed to their first record deal with this label in 2003. In August, Mr. Brightside debuted in England and the band got great reviews. As a result they were signed in American by the label Island Records and produced their first album called Hot Fuss. This record when platinum six times over and solidified The Killers as one of the newest and hottest tickets on the Indie Rock market.

Their next works included the albums "Sam's Town," "Sawdust," and "Day & Age." Sam's Town was their second album and despite having mixed reviews, it went platinum four times over. Their next disc, Sawdust, didn't mirror the success of their first two albums but it did not stop the Killers from creating their fourth album with Day & Age. This record once again was largely popular around the world and had moderate success in the United States. They collaborated with multiple artists on this work that included Sir Elton John and Neil Tennant.
