History
Iration began in
Isla Vista, CA, the small college town connected to
UC Santa Barbara. Forming out of various garage jam sessions at one of their houses on Camino Corto, they began to play backyard parties (especially Isla Vista's famous
Del Playa Drive) and local events for the endless supply of students. They since have moved to play in other college towns such as Cal Poly SLO and UC Davis. On May 1st, 2009 the concert in Davis donated proceeds to
Camp Kesem and was planned by concert promoter/producer Jason Pearl.
Building on their growing popularity, the released their
New Roots
EP in 2006. Playing numerous shows in Isla Vista, Downtown
Santa Barbara and throughout California. This solidified their presence as they were able to develop an extensive fan base while networking with other California bands in the scene. The
Santa Barbara Independent noted: "There’s something to be said for any band that can capture the undivided attention of a crowd full of drunken Isla Vistans, especially when there are kegs to be tapped and cops to avoid. But roots reggae rockers Iration manage to do it on a regular basis."
