David Nail
(born in Kennett, Missouri) is an American country music artist. In 2002, he debuted with the single "Memphis", a #52 on the Billboard
country charts and the lead-off single to his unreleased, self-titled debut album. In 2007, he signed to MCA Nashville (which, like Mercury, is under the ownership of Universal Music Group Nashville), and released his second chart single, a cover of Train's "I'm About to Come Alive". It was followed in 2009 by "Red Light", his first Top 40 country hit. Both of these songs are on his debut album I'm About to Come Alive
, released on August 18, 2009.

Musical career
David Nail
(2002)
Nail's first recording contract was with Mercury Nashville Records in 2002.
[1] While on the label, he recorded a self-titled debut album, which was produced by
Keith Stegall and John Kelton.
[2] The lead-off single, "Memphis", reached #52 on the
Billboard
Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now
Hot Country Songs) charts. Although advance copies of the album were sent to radio stations, the album was not released,
[3] and Stegall was fired from Mercury. After leaving Mercury himself, Nail took a break from the music business to help coach a baseball team.
I'm About to Come Alive
(2007-present)
Nail signed to MCA Nashville in April 2007.
His first release for the label, "I'm About to Come Alive" (a song previously recorded by the
alternative rock band
Train on its 2003 album
My Private Nation
), was released in early 2008 as his second single.
[4] This song, which peaked at #47 on the country charts, was the first single and title track from his MCA album, which was originally scheduled to be released on August 26, 2008, but was pushed back to August 18, 2009. Its second single, "
Red Light", entered Top 40 in May 2009.
Nail's first MCA album was produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke, the same producers who work for
Miranda Lambert. The album includes a duet with Lambert, as well as co-writes with
Kenny Chesney and
Rascal Flatts' lead singer
Gary LeVox, and five songs that Nail co-wrote.
