The Dave Matthews Band is a Charlottesville, Virginia-based jam band formed in 1991. The band is known far and wide for its eclectic sound, a combination of jazz, rock, classical, soul, hip-hop and bluegrass. Members include singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Carter Beauford on drums and backing vocals, Rashawn Ross on trumpet, and Tim Reynolds on guitar and other instruments. LeRoi Moore is one of the founding members and saxophonist of Dave Matthews Band, but passed away in 2008; his spot is now filled by Jeff Coffin.

Seven studio albums have been released by Dave Matthews Band since their first album in 1994. Included in these albums are Crash of 1996, Before These Crowded Streets of 1998, and Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King of 2009. They have also released thirteen live albums, plus some that are download-only. Some of their 25 plus singles include "Ants Marching" which peaked at number 18 in 1995 and "Where Are You Going" which peaked at #1 in the Adult Contemporary category.
