Ana Gabriel
(born on December 10, 1955 as María Guadalupe Araújo Yong
in Santiago de Comanito, Sinaloa) is a Mexican singer and composer.
She was born into a Mexican family of mixed Spanish, Chinese and Japanese ancestry. [1] She first sang on the stage at age six, when she sang "Regalo A Dios" by José Alfredo Jiménez. She moved to Tijuana, Baja California, where she studied accounting. When she was 21 years old she recorded her first song, entitled "Compréndeme" in 1977. During her long career, she has hits in three different genres of music: rock en español, Latin Pop, and rancheras. In 2006 she received the Lo Nuestro award's "Premio a la Excelencia" (Excellence Award).
Although a music collection promotes her and fellow Mexican singer Juan Gabriel as "Los Gabriel" (The Gabriels), they are not related to each other.
