Jeff Dunham, born in 1962 in Dallas, Texas, has created quite a name for himself in the world of stand-up comedy thus far. While Dunham is a successful comedian, he is also a talented ventriloquist, and he brings the two together to create a number of hilarious characters so his stand-up show is always a unique experience. While all his characters are well-loved by his audiences, he does have a few favorite puppets. One puppet, Walter, is a discontent, cynical elder who is always wearing a grouchy countenance. Another favorite puppet is Achmed the Dead Terrorist, the skeletal remains of a ridiculously incompetent suicide bomber. Bubba J is another unforgettable doll, as he's a beer-drinking redneck who has very little to say that might be considered intelligent.

The use of ventriloquism in his comedy has been a recipe for success for Dunham so far. He made his debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1990, though Dunham remained rather obscure for another ten or so years to follow. It wasn't until July of 2003, after doing several nominal pieces of work, that Dunham finally got his big break - an appearance on a half-hour episode of Comedy Central Presents. He used several of his characters, including Walter and the Jalapeno on a Stick, and the show was a huge success. This led him to his first hour-long special, Arguing with Myself, in 2006.

In 2009, Dunham was signed to a multi-platinum deal with Comedy Central. This included his fourth stand-up special, DVDs, consumer products, and a tour. He even had a stint on Comedy Central with his own show, but it was cancelled after one year due to high production costs. Regardless, Dunham has received much critical praise, including being voted by fans as the Top Comic in the "Stand-Up Showdown" on Comedy Central. His technique has won him several other awards as well, and Comedy Central was lucky enough to have him featured from the very beginning.
